BUSTR Alert, August 31, 2009 - The Division of State Fire Marshal's Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) was recently notified by a Scioto County convenient store owner that an individual posed as a BUSTR field inspector. The same individual was also reported to have impersonated a BUSTR field inspector while visiting at least one other facility in Scioto County.
The individual is requesting keys to dispenser covers and tank fill port locks. He is also looking at leak detection and other records to make it appear that the inspection is legitimate. This conduct, combined with the lack of proper identification, is very suspicious.
Please remember that all BUSTR field inspectors will present identification to verify that they are conducting official business. If you have any doubt to the legitimacy of an individual or their BUSTR credentials, please call (800) 686-2878 and our office will assist you in verifying whether or not the person is a State Fire Marshal/BUSTR employee.
